Your Requirements

If you are simply checking e-mail and browsing the web occasionally, a connection speed of up to 2 Meg may be more than enough. If you want to download videos regularly or have many users within your household, you may prefer a faster service. Select the MINIMUM service speed you require. If you are unsure, we would recommend selecting "2 Meg or faster"
A modem/router is the device that connects your computer to the telephone line. If you do not already have such a device and want your broadband service provider to supply you with one, select "yes" here. If you are unsure, we would recommend selecting "yes".
Some packages have an element of usage charging where your monthly cost will vary depending on how much you use your broadband connection. Please select which category you think describes you the best. We have indicated the amount of data transfer (in Gigabytes or GB) we are using for each category. If you are unsure, we would recommend "Home Medium (6GB)"
If you are currently with another ADSL service provider and you wish to move this connection, you need a supplier who accepts inbound migrations. If you are currently on a Local Loop Unbundled Service (LLU) then you may require an LLU migration (ask your service provider).
When selecting a provider, we would highly recommend you select a company that offers outbound migrations, which ensures should you wish to leave in the future, you can do so without several days of no broadband connectivity.
If you sign up to a long contract, you may not be able to move to another broadband provider if you decide that a better deal is available. As the broadband market develops fast, we would advise against contracts longer than one year. If you are unsure, we would recommend "6 months or less"
If you are a parent and wish to ensure your children are safer on the Internet, select "yes" to indicate you want your provider to help you by filtering content (e.g. by providing you with software install). Please check the package details as this may incur additional costs.
The Ofcom Voluntary Code of Practice (Broadband Speeds) is an agreement broadband providers can subscribe to which promises they will provide consumers with information on the speeds they can achieve, what sort of traffic limits might be in place, etc.
