Trooli Broadband, Full Fibre and Reviews UK

Trooli

Rating 4-5 Compare this ISP to others
Altnet

Altnets are new broadband networks which are challenging the incumbent providers. These may be smaller providers but larger altnets also exist.

Trooli

Summary

Trooli is a full fibre broadband provider that focuses on towns and larger semi-rural communities rather than trying to cover every street in the country. Its network is built for speed, with symmetrical download and upload limits and multi-gigabit options in areas where it is live. Because Trooli develops its own infrastructure and works in under-served zones, it offers a different feel to the major national ISPs. For anyone whose postcode is covered it can be a strong alternative.

Additional Comments

When Trooli works well the experience often stands out. For new customers in eligible areas they report fast installations, helpful engineers and a real leap in performance from older broadband services. The fact that the upload speeds match the download speeds means that if you upload lots of files, stream, game online or work from home you get more of what you need. The pricing is clear and the unlimited usage offers are simple to understand. On paper it gives you a very modern‐looking broadband service.

There are some important things to check though. First and most obvious is availability. Trooli’s network isn’t live everywhere yet and being “in their footprint” is essential. Just because they list a county does not guarantee your street is connected. If your address is in a “coming soon” or “not yet built” zone you may be waiting longer than you expect or be offered fewer speed options. Next, you should check your home setup. A full fibre line will bring high speeds to your door, but you only benefit fully if your router, Wi-Fi coverage and internal wiring are up to the task. In large houses or older homes with tricky layouts you might still find that the final step of getting consistent Wi-Fi across every room requires extra gear.

Customer service feedback is mostly positive though not perfect. Many customers praise the friendly local support, the installation process and the speed improvements. On the flip side you will find reports of slower resolutions for faults, or frustrations when dealing with older legacy networks that are being phased out. Because Trooli is still growing, certain areas may still be in transition and incident response may vary. For high-demand users who cannot tolerate downtime this is something to keep in mind.

If you are considering Trooli you will want to ask a few key questions: is your exact address covered and listed as “live” rather than “planned”? What speeds are available and are the uploads symmetrical? Is the installation free and what will internal wiring or router gear cost if your home needs upgrades? What is the contract length, is the price guaranteed and what happens after the initial term? If you live in a supported zone and have realistic expectations for your home network, Trooli can be a smart choice. If you live somewhere outside their build area or you rely on ultra-high uptime and support levels then you may want to compare other providers too.

Really pleased with the internet speed. The lack of online account management is annoying, but they respond to emails quickly.

Speed good to start with (on 900/300 plan) but dropped considerably (from max 700Mbps at start to max 400Mbps now but upload still at or near 300Mbps on TBB speedtest) probably due to more users causing contention. Reliability is good and still good value for money.

Clean install - terminate the line to my home office instead to the loft as BT or Vodaphone kept doing. 900Mbps speed. Highly recommended.
