Lightning Fibre

Rating 4-5 Compare this ISP to others
Altnet

Altnets are new broadband networks which are challenging the incumbent providers. These may be smaller providers but larger altnets also exist.

Lightning Fibre

Summary

Lightning Fibre broadband is a regional ISP that has built its business around full-fibre connections, delivering fibre straight to the premises rather than relying on older copper or hybrid systems. The altnet's FTTP network is live in towns around East Sussex and the south-east of England. For homes in that area the appeal is clear: you get fast symmetrical upload and download speeds, equipment and installation included, and a provider that emphasises modern infrastructure and responsive service.

Additional Comments

From a pricing point of view, Lightning Fibre broadband offers good value where the network is live. Installation and the router are included, and prices stay fixed during the contract term, which makes it easier to plan ahead. The company also offers discounted social tariffs for households on benefits, which helps make full fibre more accessible. The main limitation is availability. The rollout is ongoing, but many homes are still waiting for their area to go live, so it is worth checking your postcode before getting too excited about switching.

As with any fast broadband service, performance inside the home can depend on router placement and WiFi coverage. Some customers in larger or older houses mention that the signal does not always reach every corner, but this is usually solved with a mesh system or better router positioning. Feedback on support is mostly positive, with users praising the local team’s friendliness and willingness to help, though a few have mentioned delays during busy periods or when new areas are being connected.

Overall, Lightning Fibre broadband is a strong choice if you live in one of the towns it serves and want a reliable upgrade to full fibre broadband. You get fast, stable speeds, clear pricing and a provider that seems genuinely committed to looking after its customers. It may not yet be available everywhere, but for households within its growing network, Lightning Fibre offers a well-run and future-proof service.
