Fusion Fibre Broadband, Full Fibre and Reviews UK

Fusion Fibre

Altnet

Altnets are new broadband networks which are challenging the incumbent providers. These may be smaller providers but larger altnets also exist.

Fusion Fibre

Summary

Fusion Fibre (formerly FACTCO) is a smaller fibre broadband provider carving out a niche by delivering full-fibre (FTTP) connectivity on the CityFibre network across select locations in the UK. If your address is in one of their rollout areas you may get access to symmetrical speeds of up to 1 Gbps (that is, the same upload and download capacity), which is particularly attractive for households with multiple streaming/gaming devices or people working from home. Customers have reported excellent performance in live installations, with one user noting broadband speeds of over 920 Mbps up and down and very low latency.

Additional Comments

Fusion Fibre’s offering includes competitive pricing and optional extras like a static IP (for a modest additional cost). The router and installation are typically included in their packages, making the setup straightforward and reducing the upfront hassle of switching. The company seems to focus on value and modern infrastructure rather than flashy marketing or bundling many services. In terms of customer service many users commend Fusion Fibre’s staff for being responsive and professional when things go smoothly, even if the network partner’s delays caused complications, Fusion Fibre’s team is often praised for stepping in to resolve issues.

Availability is the biggest downside: because Fusion Fibre relies on CityFibre rollout zones, not all addresses are covered, and in some build-out areas customers report long waiting times or shifting target dates. For example, one rural community had been promised full fibre broadband service in 2022, then 2023, only for the rollout to be delayed again, a reminder that in smaller networks the roll-out process can be slower and less predictable. In addition, while customer support is regarded positively during office hours, it appears that evening and weekend technical support is more limited which could matter if you rely on the connection round-the-clock. Like many alt-net internet service providers, pricing and contract terms may change if you move address or the promotional period ends, so it pays to check the fine print.

In summary, Fusion Fibre is a solid option if you’re in a location where their full-fibre service has already been deployed, and you’re after a high-quality, high-speed connection without needing a huge bundle of extras. It stands out for its performance potential and no-nonsense setup. But if you are in an area that still needs the roll-out completed or you require immediate full technical support 24/7, then you might want to compare their offer with a larger national provider.

Fusion Fibre Reviews

Windblown 20 May 2024 (reviewed 2 years ago)
I get better than 900Mb up and downstream 24/7 and pings constantly less than 7ms. What more could one want? I pay £38 for a 1Gb symmetrical connection with a static IP and IPV6. Customer service is very good in office hours, but Fusion Fibre do not provide technical support at weekends or bank holidays. On the two occasions when something has gone wrong, this has led to great inconvenience. On one occasion, I was without Internet for four days! I hope this shortcoming is addressed before my contract is due for renewal.
