Wight Fibre

Summary

WightFibre is a broadband provider based on the Isle of Wight that has made full fibre its priority. Rather than just relying on its old Coax cable network (which used to be known as WightCable), the company has invested heavily in fibre‑to‑the‑premises (FTTP) infrastructure across the island. As a result, in many areas you can get high download and upload speeds, strong reliability and a modern connection that beats many legacy options. For anyone living on the Isle of Wight or moving there, WightFibre stands out as a leader in broadband choices.

Additional Comments

The service often gets praise for how it performs when things go well. Many customers comment on the noticeable step‑up in speed compared with what they had before. They say installations are handled professionally, engineers arrive on time, and the support teams are friendly and helpful. WightFibre has even achieved a customer satisfaction score that sits significantly above industry averages, showing that their local‑focus strategy appears to be paying off. If you are in one of the live coverage zones, you may find WightFibre gives you the kind of connection you always hoped for.

However, like many regional full fibre providers there are things to check before signing up. Coverage is expanding fast, but it is not yet universal. Just because the company is in your county doesn’t guarantee your street is live. Some properties may still be waiting for rollout or require extra work. It is wise to check your exact address, what speed tiers are offered there and whether installation times are realistic for your needs. Home network gear matters too. Even if the fibre enters your house, your Wi‑Fi signal, router quality and wiring will determine how well you feel the benefit. Large homes, thick walls or complex layouts might need mesh Wi‑Fi or a better router.

Pricing and contract terms at WightFibre are fairly transparent. Many users like the fact that there are no hidden fees for installation in some cases, and the company offers rolling contracts or flexible terms which make it easier to switch if you move or change your setup. On the flip side, since you are getting a newer network, your expectations should be managed around things like installation speed, site access issues and sometimes needing extra work on older properties. Support is strong, but in rare cases delays do happen, especially for more complex issues or infrastructure work outside normal working hours.

In summary, WightFibre is an excellent choice if your property is covered and you want high‑speed, modern broadband without compromises. It is especially suited to homes on the Isle of Wight or where the network has been well established. If you are moving to the island or looking to upgrade to full‐fibre, WightFibre should be high on your list. If you live somewhere not yet covered or you need nationwide coverage and maximum choice of providers, you may want to compare a few options before deciding.

Until recently I had dated Wightfibre as excellent. But my recent experience of their customer service has been lazy and uncaring

Excellent provider, and customer service second to none, I had a problem with download speeds, so I called customer service and the phone was answered in seconds, I could speak to the operative in a language I could understand and I also spoke, the problem was investigated and resolved ( my fault ) in about 1 hour, It is a monthly contract I think that is unheard of, but I do not think I will be going anywhere from Wight Fibre. I pay for 300mg down load and that is what I get well 327 most times, and I never get charged for the extra 27.
