Leicestershire has £7m to spend on its final third

Leicestershire County Council cabinet has reached an agreement to add £4m of
its own money to the £3m allocated to the area out of the BDUK fund. There are
thought to be some 190,000 people that fall within in the final third
definition in the county, with parts of Harborough, Melton, Hinkley and
Bosworth included.

www.leics.gov.uk/broadband will be updated with more detail by the
council, over the coming months, but crucially at this time it has a map
showing which areas of the county are likely to not see commercially led
roll-outs of superfast broadband. A survey of residents and businesses will be
undertaken shortly and communities will be encouraged to work with the council,
for those keen to get any form of campaigning the contact details of Matthew
Kempson are on the website.
