A couple of short pieces of news this week:

Two changes to the Project Gigabit Call Off 1 contract this month

This month, we’ve seen two updates to the Call Off 1 Contract for Project Gigabit. CO1 includes parts of West Berkshire, West and Mid Surrey, North Wiltshire & South Gloucestershire, Hertfordshire, Staffordshire, Lancashire and Derbyshire Peak District. This has seen the scope of the contract be increased twice. Firstly, on the 8th of May, the awarded premises have increased from 51,821 to 54,824 (+3003), with the contract value rising to £154m. Secondly, on the 28th May, a contract variation increased the scope of premises to 60,176 (+5352), with the contract increasing to £159.3m.

Fibrus hits 150,000 customer milestone

Broadband alt-net Fibrus connected their first customer in 2019 and has now announced they have over 150,000 connected. The provider has a focus on Northern Ireland, and in 2022 also expanded across to Cumbria. The provider has rolled out its FTTP network to 460,532 premises, according to our tracking. Their FTTP footprint can be seen on our broadband maps.
