PXC reveals major updates to 1Portal
PXC has updated its wholesale platform, 1Portal, focusing on end-to-end automation. The platform allows providers to order services including Openreach SOGEA, CityFibre FTTP, Community Fibre and Freedom Fibre, with further altnets in the pipeline – Trooli are expected to be added in due course.
Village Networks applies for code powers
Altnet Village Networks has applied to Ofcom for code powers to allow it to expand its wireless and Fibre build to new areas. The company said they are looking to expand access across rural areas of Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire.
CityFibre awards £50k to Suffolk Charities to boost digital inclusion
Suffolk Community Foundation is to receive £50,000 from CityFibre’s Community Fund to help contribute to supporting social enterprises that help enhance digital literacy, accessibility, and skills across the area.
FTTH Council releases copper switch-off progress across Europe
The Fibre to the Home Council Europe has a tracker on copper switch-off progress across Europe, as different countries have been working to get fibre installed and copper removed from their network. At the top of the list are Norway and Spain, which completed switch-off in 2025, with copper no longer being used in their incumbent networks. Sweden follows closely behind at 99%. Progress is uneven, with a number of countries not having announced their planned switch-off date.
