With VirginMedia O2 saying they’ve completed their build in Scarborough and have built the nexfibre XGS-PON full-fibre network to 17,000 premises.
Scarborough was one of the first nexfibre areas we started to track, and our footprint is showing 16,486 premises passed and with a few final checks to do in the Old Town area we believe we can get closer to 17,000 premises passed. The presumption we’ve made is that the nexfibre in Cayton Bay and West Ayton are included in the 17,000.
No map picture this morning as need to get on with mapping all the other networks, but the map for Scarborough is behind this link.
In terms of broadband competition, Scarborough has benefited more from nexfibre than some other areas, as out of the 16,486 premises we’ve mapped only 4,583 have access to another full-fibre network. This level of overlap will probably grow as we see more Openreach and Grain Connect full-fibre rolled out in the town.
