Rate your ISP for 2012 Internet Industry Awards

The Internet Service Providers Association is looking for customers of service providers to vote for their provider in the 2012 Customer Choice Award. The winner will be announced along with all the other awards at the London Sheraton on July 3rd 2012. Entrants in the Customer Choice category are:

ASK4	BE Broadband	catalyst2 services ltd	Exa Networks
FidoNet	Hyperoptic	MacAce	O2
Orange	Plusnet	Spectrum Internet Ltd	Storm Internet Limited
Virgin Media	Zen Internet

Customers voting for their provider will be entered into a draw for two tickets to the actual awards ceremony, which will provide a chance to meet many of the names behind the anonymous face of the UK Internet Industry. Alas wall to wall TV coverage like the Oscars cannot be guaranteed. If your provider is not entered, then encourage them to enter for 2013.

"This is a great way for consumers to have their say in which company wins this category at the industry awards. We also look forward to welcoming the winners of the draw for free tickets on the 3rd July."

Voters are asked to rate their provider on reliability, customer service and value for money, and are invited to provide a few words on why they think their provider deserves the award. The award voting page provides full details on the survey.

Where's the option to rate them but not give them a vote? I'd certainly like to give an opinion on Be, but don't want to vote for them to win.

If you want to rate poorly then you can, i.e. score them as 1.

In no way do they want people voting who have just had good experiences. Providers obviously would prefer that, but a reflection of real world opinion is the hope.

Think it needs wording a bit better then, generally when you vote for something/someone you're voting for it to win :)

Well the aim is to find out who the public think deserves the award, but if your experience is bad, voting low scores will help to ensure a good mix of voting.

Short because providers were asked to nominate themselves in the first instance.

yep I have 2 ISP's as well.
Neither are on the list anyhow.
More Bias to favored who pays most in advertsing ?

@webbrn BE are an ISP owned by Telefónica (o2) o2 broadband uses the BE network so BE and o2 are basically the same company but they have different packages O2 are more general home user & BE are more your heavy gamer/pro users there website is https://www.bethere.co.uk

Why don't people read the article - it clearly states "If your provider is not entered, then encourage them to enter for 2013."

Wouldn't go so far as to say heavy users, they have been enforcing their FUP.

@drummerjohn Restricting entries is a standard thing to avoid people sitting down and trying to skew results.

Or put another way because some people abuse voting systems, the flexibility has to be locked down to some extent.

My initial thought was im not giving VM a vote as they are a nightmare ISP. Then read further and saw you could rate them, so went for it and gave them a bad score as deserved :)

My ISP is not down on the list so how can I vote for it or againtst it.

If this is not a complete list of ISP's - what a waste of time asking us to vote. If you are doing the job, then please do it properly !!

Why does this not separate out Fibre/cable suppliers from ADSL services? I'm with Virgin ADSL and it's awful (but no fibre/cable available in this rural area) but lumping together ADSL and fibre/cable skews results anyway! Be interesting to see what the difference is if they were voted on separately.

The various deadlines, the shortness of the list is down to the providers themselves, ie. them deciding to enter or not.

Splitting on technology is difficult, as small provider like Zen already offers multiple types of connection and service.

Already 15 categories, of which this award is just one.

Oh that was satisfying, letting rip about my horrific experience with Virgin Media :-)

Shame there wasn't a way to vote for how good BT Infinity has been in VM's place.
