Network TV arrives in South Yorkshire

People living in South Yorkshire now have an additional option for
television with the launch of the Little TV, Big TV and Big TV+ packages by
littlebigone.com.

The TV service is delivered across the VDSL2 network that Digital Region has to around 80% of homes in the region,
with picture quality the same as existing satellite TV services. The service
also supports HD channels, though only BBC One HD and the BBC HD channels are
available. QoS is used to ensure that any downloads or uploads across an
individuals connection do not impact on their TV viewing.

Three packages are available:

  • Little TV Pack: 50 TV and radio channels, up to 40 Meg broadband with
unlimited downloads, a wireless N router, free anytime calls, YouTube access
via set top box and local transport information. £32 per month on an 18 month
contract, with the telephone line rental costing £13 per month.
  • Big TV Pack: The £39 per month (plus line rental at £13/month) adds an
extra 20 channels to the TV line up.
  • Big TV+ Pack: For £45 per month (plus line rental at £13/month) adds a 500
GB TV recording box, so that TV can be recorded/paused.

Setup costs are £75, plus a £42 connection fee, though the first 50 sign-ups
to the new TV services will receive a free set-top box and activation. The
channel line-up should expand in the future to include Sky Sports and Sky
Movies, as additional subscription options.

The inclusion of local transport information is an interesting aspect, and
it seems littlebigone is keen to expand this aspect of the service, giving
local communities the opportunity to have a truly local TV service.

BT Vision is a hybrid IPTV service, with most broadcast channels delivered
over Freeview, which means people need an appropriate aerial to receive those
channels. The HomeChoice service that was around since 2000, which morphed into
Tiscali TV to eventually become TalkTalk TV and while still working we believe
has not signed up new customers since early 2011 and as with BT Vision it was a
hybrid service. The extra bandwidth of VDSL2 and sub-loop unbundling used by
Digital Region allows for a pure IPTV delivery of channels at a decent quality
level.

  1. @pcoventry76 you mean besides sky lol

and just to add im sure littlebigone will comment about it at some point you dont actually need to take line rental, Broadband and TV is still available if you keep your line rental with BT/BTw line so it should say (plus optional line rental at £13)

  2. I presume if you dont take the line rental, then the anytime calls is not included?

  3. @andrew yea that’s correct that’s down to who ever you have your rental with, Reason we didn’t switch phone is because the post office is actually cheaper rental (£12) and also no phone contracts included and makes it easier to move littlebigone use a type of static voip tech (landlines replacement so you cant use the voip featchers on your mobile or pc or anything) so may make it hard to move your number at a later date (like full llu can be)

  4. @pcoventry76 sorry i thought you just meant TV not all 3 lol. Yea its a shame sky went all LLU with the phone they might of lost a lot of new customers then again been considerably cheaper than BT maybe not who knows

  5. that said ive just got rid of sky my self wont ever go near VM again so this has come at a good time for me id already got broadband on order so the TV come perfect timing i was 1 of the first 50 to sign up so got it free 🙂 they have most of the channels i watched with sky anyway so all good 🙂
