Net withdrawal symptoms

A transatlantic cable known as TAT-14 developed a fault on Monday afternoon resulting in significant problems on the Internet for traffic between the United States and the U.K. but the problem was much more severe that initially anticipated. Not only did it affect providers using the backbones running over that under-sea cable, some users had problems even accessing U.K.-based sites.

Parents are more confident about the Internet

An NOP survey commissioned by BT Yahoo! Broadband surveyed 500 Internet users across the UK and found some regional variations with Londoners being most concerned over the risks children face. The survey indicated that parents are "increasingly confident in their ability to create a safe online environment" for their children.
