MyDoom virus and its growing problems

Often people call the press guilty of talking up the problems from various viruses. In this case it seems it as bad as they make out. In a short poll of just one mail server - around 200 copies of the virus have being blocked, but the worst is that 200+ 'could not be delivered' messages have arrived. Every one of these is due to other peoples mail servers saying that a virus was found and therefore the message could not be delivered. The amount of legitimate traffic was just around 50 emails for the same period.

Silicon.com is calling for postmasters to turn off these auto responders, since at present the effect is increase the avalanche of rubbish for people, many of whom may not even be running a Microsoft based OS that is affected by the original virus.
