The presence of the Virgin Media Gig1 in Southampton, Reading and Manchester has been combined with our mapping of the full fibre coverage and we can report the UK has 14.57% coverage of Gigabit broadband.

The patterns for new homes have not changed massively since our last update in November 2019 but there has been a small increase in the amount of full fibre used and importantly more have superfast speeds available.

Ultrafast broadband coverage has broken the 60% barrier when you combine the availability of FTTP, cable broadband and G.fast.

Our tracking of what Openreach is delivering in terms of FTTP confirms the build rate they claim, with us finding 25,809 premises passed per week in the last month compared to their self declared 26,000 figure.

After just 5 weeks and 2 days of hitting the 11% coverage point we can announce our tracking of the FTTP rollouts hitting the 12% mark.

It is time for our first monthly roundup of 2020 on how fast we are seeing Openreach deploy FTTP. The overall pace of deployment is running at 23,039 premises passed each week.

Claiming that once R100 completes Scotland will be ahead of the curve in UK and internationally is a strong claim. The current Scottish position has it lagging the other nations on full fibre availability and with 94% superfast availability it is not leading the charge there either.
