Virgin Media says nexfibre full fibre available to over 6,000 homes in Llantwit – UPDATED

Llantwit in Bro Morgannwg – the Vale of Glamorgan looks to be one of the latest nexfibre rollout areas.

Virgin Media O2 has announced the nexfibre XGS-PON rollout has brought its full fibre services including 2 Gbps and symmetrical options to over 6,000 homes in the South Wales town.

There is an extensive full fibre presence already in the area from Ogi and also some Openreach FTTP, so for some homes this means the third full fibre network and many more it will be the second. The latest aggressive price point from Virgin Media O2 where you can get their Gig1 service with Netflix for £29.99 a month could see them win some customers – though remember there is a £4 per month price rise due in April 2026 and April 2027.

6,000 more homes in Llantwit can now feel the benefit of Virgin Media’s services – with packages that include everything from next generation multigigabit broadband to easy-to-use TV streaming and entertainment services.

These ultrareliable full fibre to the home broadband connections come with high speeds, providing total peace of mind that whatever you’re doing online, you’ll never be slowed down by your service.

Julie Agnew, Managing Director of Fixed Network Expansion, Virgin Media O2

nexfibre’s multi-million pound investment in Llantwit will enable thousands of households to access the benefits of full fibre broadband, including being able to participate in the local economy and connect with the community. We are continuing to bring our high speed fibre network to more location across the UK.

As of 9am on 23rd October we’d not tracked any nexfibre footprint in Llantwit Major but a quick few checks show it is available in the town and we will endeavour to map out the rough extent of the footprint for Friday.

A common quirk with the VMO2/nexfibre rollouts is that the number of homes announced does not agree with the overall number of premises in the named town. In the case of Llantwit we believe it covers some 4,891 premises (homes plus business premises), and the DSIT OMR and UPRN data sit a handful of premises either side of this figure. In previous announcements the difference is down to Virgin Media O2 and nexfibre including other nearby smaller towns and villages in the footprint count and which those are will only become obvious once we’ve mapped the footprint. Our quick checking has already shown some streets that look residential in Llantwit don’t have nexfibre available today.

Update Friday 24th October 2025: It looks possible that the claimed over 6,000 homes includes properties in nearby Font-y-Gary and Rhoose. Our map still only has postcodes covering 800 nexfibre premises in the area, but this is because we’d being searching for the extent, now the work to fill in the gaps can start.

Update Saturday 25th October 2025: Premises with nexfibre option in Llantwit and Rhoose now totals 6,500 premises with 3,100 of these in Llantwit Major. There is still some further mapping due in Rhoose but the over 6,000 homes passed is confirmed.
