Ofcom has released a spring update to its Connected Nations report which looks at the availability of broadband services in the UK nations. 24 million homes in the UK are now able to get gigabit broadband. Ofcom data shows that as of January 2024 the UK passed the 80% threshold of coverage, news that we reported from our own broadband availability tracking back in January. Ofcom data has this as a 7% increase in the last year, and still leaves a 5% gap to the current government goal of 85% coverage in 2025. thinkbroadband data shows we are at over 82% now, and should reach this goal in September 2024.
Full-fibre data from Ofcom reports 62% coverage as of January 2024, matching our own data of 62.1%. This has now exceeded the 65% point, adding 3% points in under 3 months.

The above data compares broadband availability data provided by Ofcom with that which we track and shows that the figures are broadly similar. Sadly, the interesting data released in the last Connected Nations report about take-up of gigabit and full-fibre broadband has not been included in the spring update. Hopefully, this will be reported again in the future.
For a snapshot of the latest data, see our most recent coverage update reporting on 65% of homes with a full-fibre broadband option on 14th April. You can use our website to track the full broadband coverage information including Superfast, Gigabit and Fibre coverage data.
“Full-fibre data from Ofcom reports 62% coverage as of January 2025” – should that be Jan 2024?
Thanks @ian72 – fixed.
