Top 10 Fastest Broadband ISPs for December 2002

Monthly results from our ISP Speed Test. The final month of 2002 saw a broad improvement in performance such that all of the top 10 fastest ISPs are now
averaging over 400 Kbps. Nildram, who have been consistently fastest over the last 4 months are now being subjected to fierce competition from the likes of Eclipse and Zen Internet.

Well done to Freeserve for finally making it onto the top 10 alongside the newly launched AOL broadband service. Demon, BT Broadband (BT’s ‘no frills’ ADSL service) and Tiscali failed to make the
top 10 with average downstream speeds of 400, 384 & 382 Kbps respectively.

We look forward to bringing you more detailed, frequently updated speed test results in 2003. In the meanwhile, here are last months:

confirmed test results (“total” column). In addition, we urge our users to try our ISP Comparator which considers other factors such as reliability and customer
service. Remember to ask in our Message Boards if you’re choosing a new ISP! To view a list of previous months results, click here.
