Additional Comments

When everything lines up, TalkTalk broadband provides a solid fibre broadband connection. Many customers get stable speeds that suit everyday needs, and the service is simple to set up in most homes. Because TalkTalk uses multiple underlying networks including Openreach and several full fibre partners, you may find good availability even in places where other providers are limited. For casual streaming, schoolwork, online shopping and TV catch up, it usually does the job.

That said, there are a few things worth keeping in mind. The biggest potential issue is customer service. Reviews often mention long wait times, support that can feel hit and miss and issues taking longer than expected to sort. TalkTalk’s ratings for reliability and support tend to sit below some of the other major providers. If you are happy with a lower cost option and only need the basics to run smoothly most of the time, it can work well enough. If you work from home, rely heavily on your connection or you cannot afford interruptions, you may want to compare other options first.

It is also sensible to check what happens when your contract ends. TalkTalk broadband is known for promoting attractive starter prices, but once your initial deal finishes the cost can rise. Taking a moment to understand your renewal rate and any price promise is a good idea. Take a look at our best broadband deals page for discounts. As always, the speed you sign up for refers to the line into your home. What you actually experience depends on Wi-Fi strength, the layout of your property and the quality of your equipment. Larger houses or those with thick walls may need stronger internal Wi-Fi setups to get the best from the broadband connection.

TalkTalk broadband suits people who want a simple broadband option at a fair price and do not need the highest level of support. It offers good value on the right deal and can handle the normal mix of streaming, browsing and work tasks for most homes. If you prefer a provider with stronger satisfaction scores or guaranteed support response times, then it is worth exploring alternatives. But for many households looking for a budget friendly fibre broadband service without too much fuss, TalkTalk broadband remains a sensible choice.

Service has deteriorated over the last couple of months. Broadband service drops out without warning for a short time (10 minutes) which happens about once or twice a week. It also drops out for a couple of hours about once a month. No explanation about what happened and there is no point in contacting customer services because the assistants seem unable to grasp the problems. Do not fall for the YouView deal where TalkTalk offer to reduce overall costs if the customer stays on contract. The costs will not reduce and I received a lower level TV Box than I had before. Basically TalkTalk are ripping people off. I would be using another service but I fell for the TalkTalk blurb, so I'm stuck with them for another year.

Worst customer service ever. A complete joke.

Signed up to Fibre 65 package mid-August. Service upgrade has been a failure. Guaranteed speeds were never reached. Diagnostic tests run remotely failed to discern the problem. Worse still the router has now been completely disabled. 2 hour Helpdesk call charged at premium rate. Left with no internet connection, no wi-fi. Engineer expected to call in 48 hours. Level of service a total disgrace.

Talk talk a very lazy firm who couldn't organise anything. I've been trying to get into fibre and they keep saying there is no fibre near me. So why does it say on the telegraph pole Fibre here. This post is less that 10m from my house and entry point. I shall be going over to BT to get the work done.

Talk Talk advertise their fibre broadband as having an average download speed of 67Mb but they never intend to provide as they throttle it to just above the minimum guaranteed of 50Mb. I was getting 67Mb from Vodafone the day before I unfortunately switched which dropped to 44Mb. After complaining it crept up to 54Mb. Does anyone out there get 67Mb or higher as they claim 67Mb is their average ?

Nothing to fault with the operation of the service at last . But services that back up the overall operation, particularly the billing department, do prove very difficult to deal with. The problems stem mainly from your use of overseas call centres who seem only able to standard requests, with contact with suitable staff in the UK almost impossible. This causes much frustration.

Generally ok speed wise, but drops out without warning. Happens about every 2 or 3 days and lasts about 10 minutes then comes back on. Customer service is a joke, and they pulled a fast one on me by supplying a replacement YouView box without the recording service present on my original box. Should have seen it coming, but I'm now tied up for another 18 months because I fell for a so called cost reduction, but have less of a service. Beware, don't fall for the TalkTalk offers, it's all bogus.

Download speeds very variable sometimes not even working.

Good reliable download speeds. Good support when needed

Talk Talk are advertising their fibre having an average download speed of 67Mb. However they never intend to provide this so they throttle the speed to just over the contract minimum 50Mb. The day I switched over from Vodafone my speed dropped from 67Mb to 44Mb. I had to complain and it took several weeks to gradually bring it up to 53Mb. Now I am stuck for 2 years. They also said that I would get an £80 voucher back after 30 days. They now say they know nothing about it.
