Additional Comments

The company offers a full range of broadband services, from standard fibre (FTTC) to full-fibre (FTTP) packages that deliver ultrafast speeds. BT’s newer Full Fibre plans provide a direct fibre connection to your home, giving download speeds up to 900 Mbps and upload speeds up to 110 Mbps. These are ideal for larger households, home offices, or anyone who regularly streams, games, or downloads large files. Even the standard fibre plans offer decent performance, with average speeds ranging from 36 Mbps to 74 Mbps.

One of BT’s key strengths is reliability. Its network is well-established and regularly maintained, with nationwide customer support available 24/7. The Smart Hub 2 router that comes with BT’s packages is designed to deliver strong Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home, and you can add Wi-Fi discs to eliminate dead spots if needed. BT also includes access to a huge network of public Wi-Fi hotspots across the UK, which can be useful when you’re on the move.

Customer service has improved in recent years, with BT now offering UK and Ireland-based call centres and online chat support. The MyBT app also makes it easy to check your connection status, run speed tests, or manage your account.

Overall, BT is a safe and dependable choice for broadband. It offers wide availability, strong performance, and a good balance of speed and service. While it might not be the cheapest option, BT’s experience, reliability, and extras make it a solid pick for households that want a well-supported, nationwide provider they can count on. Sat 17/10/2015 Down - 36.01 Mbps 36.09 Mbps up - 8.36 Mbps Wed 04/12/2019 Down - 28.98 Mbps 28.42 Mbps up - 4.17 Mbps Promised min then - 30 Mbps New contract, 23 Mbps min. Price increases for a poorer service, Helpline to people (not their fault) whose accents make them nearly impossible to understand, and who cannot solve problems. Why am I still with them then? Simply inertia and the difficulties involved in changing. NOT recommended.

I've been with BT for many years - and am generally satisfied (otherwise I would have left. On the odd occasions that I had had technical issues, they were resolved in a reasonable time. The reason I give less than five stars on one point is that their admin, for many issues - billing/package change etc - is less than good. Download/upload speeds are consistently good 65/18 on an 80/20 package.

Speed is adequate, but there are too many dropouts - 5 - 10 a day.

I recently negotiated a new deal. I didn't have any problems with customer service unlike some. I managed to haggle a good deal as I have previously, although one a while ago I had to try 3 times to get the best deal! There were cheaper deals around but they didn't include what I wanted. The deal I have has what I need. Speed is great and FTTC connection is reliable.

I recently negotiated a new deal. I didn't have any problems with customer service unlike some, managed to haggle a good deal. Similar in the past, though one year a while ago, I had 3 attempts to get the best deal! Whilst there were cheaper deals elsewhere, a number of things weren't included with them. My current deal has what I need.

The broadband has been fantastic for years no many problems

The broadband connection has been somewhat sporadic, breaks of over 30 minutes are not unusual. Once again, we in Selsey on the South Coast are at the end of the line, and we are the first to suffer from any BT broadband faults. We are the second or third tier of customers, there's not enough of us to actually worry BT.

When BT Broadband works, it works well. When there is a problem, it is a nightmare. For over a year I had a problem with my broadband, which was only resolved because I had a problem with my TV services, and it was discovered as a result of that. In spite of engineering visits, new routers etc, nothing happened, until the TV group found an issue with perturbations on the line (although these were identified by Kaspersky, BT took no notice). The final resolution happened when the port in the cabinet in the road was changed to a different port, and suddenly, it all worked well. Why this could not have been established earlier beats me.

I have had very little trouble over the years I have had BT 80/20. There have been occasional glitches - which were resolved instantly. I have found, though, that BT admin sometimes fails to do the job quickly and accurately - usually revolving around billing issues.
