Additional Comments

The company offers a full range of broadband services, from standard fibre (FTTC) to full-fibre (FTTP) packages that deliver ultrafast speeds. BT’s newer Full Fibre plans provide a direct fibre connection to your home, giving download speeds up to 900 Mbps and upload speeds up to 110 Mbps. These are ideal for larger households, home offices, or anyone who regularly streams, games, or downloads large files. Even the standard fibre plans offer decent performance, with average speeds ranging from 36 Mbps to 74 Mbps.

One of BT’s key strengths is reliability. Its network is well-established and regularly maintained, with nationwide customer support available 24/7. The Smart Hub 2 router that comes with BT’s packages is designed to deliver strong Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home, and you can add Wi-Fi discs to eliminate dead spots if needed. BT also includes access to a huge network of public Wi-Fi hotspots across the UK, which can be useful when you’re on the move.

Customer service has improved in recent years, with BT now offering UK and Ireland-based call centres and online chat support. The MyBT app also makes it easy to check your connection status, run speed tests, or manage your account.

Overall, BT is a safe and dependable choice for broadband. It offers wide availability, strong performance, and a good balance of speed and service. While it might not be the cheapest option, BT’s experience, reliability, and extras make it a solid pick for households that want a well-supported, nationwide provider they can count on. Had a small connection problem - BT's troubleshooter fixed it in a few seconds.

Excellent reliability and good speeds, but not the cheapest!

I have been a BT customer for many, many years - and am generally happy with the broadband service they provide: the same cannot be said for the admin/customers service. On 28/02/2021 I got in touch with BT to have two aspects of my account changed: I no longer need the 4K/HD component nor the multiroom. The guy I spoke to said he'd do that, and did I want to change to Halo3 - with a 24 month contract. I specifically said NO I did not want to change. I checked online a few days later, and the items had NOT been removed - BUT the Halo 3 (plus contract) had been added. Now - 20/03/2021 - and after 11 calls to BT, I am still waiting for confirmation that the Halo 3 had been removed, along with the two items. This is why I can't give a great rating for BT, as it's not the first time there have been admin errors. Pity, really, as I can't fault the actual service. That good FTTC service is the ONLY reason I stay with BT, 20th March TBB review of BT

30% reduction in speed as soon as new contract agreed.

Had FTTP installed last September, installation was messy and not where I wanted it (“ Can’t do internal wiring because of Covid” was excuse) with guarantee of 100 mbps down. It has fluctuated between 30 and 140 although upload pretty consistent around 30mbps The new Hub stopped working last week, was promised new one next day, in the meantime was using the mini- hub provided as part of the HALO package. Very unreliable, it relies on EE mobile signal, which is patchy to say the least, max download was 9 mbps and at times no WiFi at all. Hub did not arrive when promised (no surprise, as the cheapskates use 48 hour service instead of next day), but got an email and a text telling me minihub would be turned off as service was now restored. Sure enough, 11a.m. Mini hub went off. Took two phone calls to Fibre Helpline to get it reactivated. New hub has now arrived. Speed still variable. Many years ago, I was with TalkTalk. They were even more useless!

BT is my provider, the service is reasonable but oftens has outage and their email program is awful and shows no sign of improvement. A great shame as it used to be very good but not any longer.

Broadband speeds halved over last two months, no explanation.
