Additional Comments

The company offers a full range of broadband services, from standard fibre (FTTC) to full-fibre (FTTP) packages that deliver ultrafast speeds. BT’s newer Full Fibre plans provide a direct fibre connection to your home, giving download speeds up to 900 Mbps and upload speeds up to 110 Mbps. These are ideal for larger households, home offices, or anyone who regularly streams, games, or downloads large files. Even the standard fibre plans offer decent performance, with average speeds ranging from 36 Mbps to 74 Mbps.

One of BT’s key strengths is reliability. Its network is well-established and regularly maintained, with nationwide customer support available 24/7. The Smart Hub 2 router that comes with BT’s packages is designed to deliver strong Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home, and you can add Wi-Fi discs to eliminate dead spots if needed. BT also includes access to a huge network of public Wi-Fi hotspots across the UK, which can be useful when you’re on the move.

Customer service has improved in recent years, with BT now offering UK and Ireland-based call centres and online chat support. The MyBT app also makes it easy to check your connection status, run speed tests, or manage your account.

Overall, BT is a safe and dependable choice for broadband. It offers wide availability, strong performance, and a good balance of speed and service. While it might not be the cheapest option, BT’s experience, reliability, and extras make it a solid pick for households that want a well-supported, nationwide provider they can count on. Just don't get the negative responses BT gets at times! They are mighty expensive but I very seldom get a problem where I need to contact them.... once ever 18 to 24 months? As I implied, my biggest complaint is the constant increase in charges. The broadband and phone services are 1st Class.

BT Fibre 100 service (GFAST) - Rarely meets minimum speed obligation of 100mbps. Call BT they send engineer to work on cabinet all ok, fix only lasts a very short while before drops below minimum service provision again. Generally a little faster than FTTC connection, but not sure it is worth the premium price!

My previous FTTC connection slowed down after a line fault (down to 60mbps from what had started as 81mbps) , so I sought a faster service and requested BT Fibre 100 (a GFAST service). Initially problems were put down to a number of issues including a defective router, but speeds were still not up to the minimum for the service. After about 6 weeks something was done remotely and speeds improved. Speeds now range from 133mbps to 100mbps and very occasionally much slower. On balance I am happy, but would say that GFAST does not offer the speed consistency of my previous slower FTTC.

Thinking about leaving BT, there are MUCH better deals available from other providers. BT is OVER PRICED & OVER RATED

Download speeds are just about OK, not too many breaks in connection. BUT when something goes wrong the customer service is disgracefully abysmal! The agents tell you different things every time you phone and no-one tells the truth until you finally get an engineer out! The BT Cloud service is rubbish. For the service received, the prices are ridiculously high, the BT service is definitely not value for money. Unfortunately many of us in rural areas have little choice.
