Additional Comments

The company offers a full range of broadband services, from standard fibre (FTTC) to full-fibre (FTTP) packages that deliver ultrafast speeds. BT’s newer Full Fibre plans provide a direct fibre connection to your home, giving download speeds up to 900 Mbps and upload speeds up to 110 Mbps. These are ideal for larger households, home offices, or anyone who regularly streams, games, or downloads large files. Even the standard fibre plans offer decent performance, with average speeds ranging from 36 Mbps to 74 Mbps.

One of BT’s key strengths is reliability. Its network is well-established and regularly maintained, with nationwide customer support available 24/7. The Smart Hub 2 router that comes with BT’s packages is designed to deliver strong Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home, and you can add Wi-Fi discs to eliminate dead spots if needed. BT also includes access to a huge network of public Wi-Fi hotspots across the UK, which can be useful when you’re on the move.

Customer service has improved in recent years, with BT now offering UK and Ireland-based call centres and online chat support. The MyBT app also makes it easy to check your connection status, run speed tests, or manage your account.

Overall, BT is a safe and dependable choice for broadband. It offers wide availability, strong performance, and a good balance of speed and service. While it might not be the cheapest option, BT’s experience, reliability, and extras make it a solid pick for households that want a well-supported, nationwide provider they can count on. Another month with no problems so can’t comment on customer service, didn’t need it! Good consistent speeds, up and down. All good!

Download speed ok but dropped markedly.
otleyj 13 Jun 2021 (reviewed 4 years ago)
Download speeds deteriorated from original 28mb to a steady 21/22 MB and recently sometimes 1.5 or 7 with long initiatition times of 10/15 seconds. Appears that the copper wire systems from the fibre box about 1 km distant cannot cope. Earlier when speed was 19MB but supposed to be minimum of 27Mb (fast fibre average 35MB) BT spent two days investigating but could not improve the performance and substantially lowered my tariff. A full fibre box is needed at this end of the village before we can hope to get the speeds promised AND CHARGED FOR.

I must find a better isp provider! BT is OVER PRICED and nowhere as good/user friendly as its major competitors. It does not value it's long standing & loyal customers, I just keeps taking the money.

glad to be away from BT charges for service that we could not receive

BT. Am completely new to BT having moved to an area not covered by Virgin. I chose a simple full fibre 100 and get 150mbs. All good so far and report back about reliability later.

I cannot give full marks to BT because they do not provide a straightforward way of asking questions or seeking help. It's all about moving customers to even more "exciting" deals.

Now on "Fibre to Cabinet" and our current download and upload speeds are excellent and reliable. Had a couple of line faults in the past six months which affected various neighbours as well but these were dealt with by Openreach engineers within two or three days. BT Customer Service is good enough but only if you end up with a sympathetic operator like the last one I spoke to who spent nearly an hour on the phone with me trying to fix my problem. My only quibble is with the monthly cost which seems high.

Can’t rate customer service because I never have to use it! A good solid reliable service.

Just don't get the negative responses BT gets at times! They are mighty expensive but I very seldom get a problem where I need to contact them.... once ever 18 to 24 months? As I implied, my biggest complaint is the constant increase in charges. The broadband and phone services are 1st Class.
