12 new fibre schools and 3,500 new engineers to install full fibre

Openreach is increasing its workforce to allow it meet the targets it has set for full fibre roll-outs and the extra 3,500 trainee engineers are hopefully a sign that they are in this for the long haul with further targets after the 2020 three million goal is reached.

The cost of the cable that links the Openreach infrastructure to the providers backhaul network in an exchange may be a one off cost but with bandwidth utilisation growing reduced prices should ensure providers stay on top of avoiding this short piece of fibre being the bottleneck.
