St Briavels in Gloucester has Gigaclear FTTP available

For a long time proportionally full fibre was more available in rural areas than urban but that switched around in 2021 with a number of commercial operators ramping up their build rate in low cost areas. Fortunately full fibre is still being built in rural areas, the raw numbers are very different but the increase in reliability and speed means that the positive effect for those living in these rural areas is larger.

The village of St Briavels is the latest bit of Gigaclear coverage to appear on our maps, which brought our mapped footprint to some 203,248 premises across mainly southern areas of England.

The footprint in our system has already increased on the Wednesday to 203,994 premises with more coverage found in MK postcode area today and while still behind the figure of 250,000 premises passed that Gigaclear recently announced since we finding more every couple of days there is no panic. If your village is missing do drop us an email and we will get you added.

  1. CityFibre cabled up much of Quedgeley (Gloucester) a few months ago, and yesterday through the post came a card from Gigaclear, offering a symmetric 500 Mb/s for £37/m or a symmetric 900 Mb/s for £40/m, both with the first three months free, and free install.
Time to have a word with Virgin Media, I think, who are charging about the same (slightly discounted from headline rate) for 112 Mb/s download and 10 Mb/s upload…

  2. To add to the above, today came a Big Winter Sale discount from Vodafone, for 500 Mbps at £40/m over 24 months.
More for Andrew to look out for!

  3. Quedgeley already had a chunk of cityfibre, and more will be on maps by tomorrow morning, i.e. once other changes finish during today.

As for Gigaclear close by in rural properties but nothing obvious in the urban part of Quedgeley
