E20 the London postcode for cheap and hyperfast broadband

Hyperoptic has
added another set of properties to its coverage of ultrafast broadband
services, this time it is in the former Athletes’ Village at Stratford
(postcode E20).

The East Village neighbourhood has had the Hyperoptic treatment,
which means that 20 Mbps, 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps speed options are available. For
those renting where the property is managed by Get Living London the
basic 20 Mbps service is provided free, and upgrades to 100 Mbps and 1 Gbps are
available for £10 and £20 a month respectively. Importantly the contract on the
upgrades is a simple 30 day rolling contract.

“We are delighted to bring the UK’s fastest and most innovative fibre
broadband infrastructure to East Village. The selection by East Village of
tomorrow’s – not just today’s – fibre technology clearly represents a real
commitment to ‘future proofing’ the scheme and ensuring it stands the test of
time.”

  1. Did Hyperoptic add any value here?

I recall that BT installed FTTP to every apartment in the athlete’s village. It was a strong point they made in marketing their involvement/partnership with the games.

Have Hyperoptic bought that network? Or perhaps they’re re-selling BTW or BTOR? It doesn’t seem likely, economically speaking, that Hyperoptic would overlay their own fibre, or attack the market with a strong competitor already in place.
