Jersey is continuing its fibre roll-out and has passed a milestone on its way towards making FTTH available to some 35,000 premises on the island.

Are all the studies that keep showing the UK doing very well compared to other major European countries flawed? Or is the UK actually rather well compared to Spain, Italy, Germany and France?

We thought a survey published by TalkTalk seemed familiar, and while we know that poor in home wiring can be a killer for broadband, the new survey suggesting a figure of 4 Mbps looks to be preying on peoples fears.

North and North East Lincolnshire which only signed its BT contract back in June has announced an expansion of the project, to take fibre based coverage from 89% to 92%.

Berkshire may have many areas with access to a commercial superfast broadband already, but via the BDUK funding the project to deliver it to even more people has had its contract signed.

At a meeting in Cardiff on Thursday 3rd October the Welsh Government is attempting to encourage providers to take part in its ABC subsidy scheme, but the criteria for funding are almost laughable.

While the criticism of BT and the BDUK is likely to continue for a good few years, the work to rollout FTTC based services continues and a small village in Cumbria is the first to gain superfast broadband via the project.

The Connected Cities scheme has completed its pilot and at least one provider is reporting some success via the project.

The Superfast Cymru project is delivering improvements across Wales, and Bangor on of the first areas to benefit is also set to have Fibre on Demand available. Today sees another batch of 151 communities to benefit announced.

Hampshire County Council has published maps showing the areas that should be part of the phase one improvements in the county.
