The results for January 2015 are in allowing everyone to track how much the UK broadband landscape is changing if it is at all.

The spending on advertising to promote that superfast broadband is widely available in the UK may not be universally available, but now that the Government project has passed some 1.9 million premises getting people to sign-up is important.

The worries about overbuild with the Fibre GarDen project appear diminished now that the area of the project is officially de-scoped from the larger BDUK roll-out.

VDSL2 may have been rolled out to over 61,000 cabinets so far but it does not provide superfast speeds to everyone, but it seems plans are underway to reduce the number get slow speeds significantly.

The Fibre GarDen initiative was one of a few RCBF projects that appeared to be progressing but increasing amounts of questions and politics appear to be getting ever closer to causing the roll-out to fail.

Unfortunately fibre networks even if largely FTTC based take time to build, but it looks like the build may be going on for a lot longer in some areas, as the CSW project has announced phase 2 that may stretch in 2019.

In a move that the Government is probably proud of the idea of using public networks to help with rural broadband and mobile coverage has surfaced too late to really help.

The latest rural broadband report is interesting both for what it says and does not say, the call for a 10 Mbps USC is not now, but needs to be remembered with respect to the EU 2020 target of everyone having access to 30 Mbps.

Devon and Somerset is one of the largest BDUK projects with the phase 1 project having a fund of £94 million, after many doubts it appears funding for phase 2 has been secured.

While MP's are still getting letters from constituents that they cannot get decent broadband things are still improving and Cornwall is looking to push on to 99% superfast coverage target.
