While no specific targets are talked about for broadband coverage in the National Parks across the United Kingdom it is interesting to take a moment to see what coverage is like and maybe shine the light on areas that people readily will describe as rural.

£2m is to be spent to connect 57 public buildings across Aberdeen to Gigabit broadband, the question though is whether this will help the public get access to full fibre?

In a week where the broadband focus seems to be on Scotland we have updated a table of data we lost published in September 2016 to look at how things are progressing in Scotland.

£190m is a large sum of money but the new fund launched by DCMS will need to trigger an explosion in full fibre roll-out akin to lighting a fuse on a keg of gunpowder.

We are a bit late in November featuring the peak and off-peak comparisons for the largest UK broadband providers from October, but there is some new data to share tracking the daily speeds too.

The changes in policy around deploying full fibre on new building developments unfortunately are not retrospective so some developments built a few years ago are still left behind, fortunately for 14 Redrow developments that is set to change.

Another month has passed and the UK has not managed to magic many millions of full fibre premises but we are seeing a lot more new builds this year utilising FTTP and the effects are starting to show.

Matt Hancock MP the Minister for Digital has given a speech to the Broadband Stakeholders Group 2017 conference designed to set out the Governments stall on broadband and stir the troops into going over the top and delivering millions of full fibre connected homes.
