New Chief Security and Networks Officer at BT

BT has announced that Greg McCall has been appointed as Chief Security and Networks Officer for BT following the retirement of Howard Watson, who had worked for BT for over 10 years.

Zen celebrates 30-year anniversary

Zen Internet is celebrating its 30th birthday this month as the longest-standing independent ISP. They have a site dedicated to the history of Zen. In other Zen news, the company are pleased to appoint Paul North to lead their Partner division.

TP-Link has announced that they have conducted the first connectivity tests of Wi-Fi 8, confirming the feasibility of the new standard. Officially known as IEEE 802.11bn, it’s expected to be finalised in 2028 with equipment to likely follow in the years after. Wi-Fi 8 is concentrating on making Wi-Fi more reliable, rather than faster, with it being known as UHR or Ultra-High Reliability.

Virgin Media signs PPA with TRIG to supply renewable energy

Virgin Media have signed a power purchase agreement with The Renewable Infrastructure Group (TRIG) to supply renewable energy for the next 10 years, which will account for 15% of their total energy usage. TRIG have a portfolio of renewable energy with 2.3GW of capacity.

TOTSCo confirms 1.8m switches have occurred

TOTSCo, the one-touch broadband switching organisation, have confirmed that over 1.8 million broadband switches have taken place using their platform since they launched in September 2024. The TOTSCo AGM will take place on 19th November.
