EXCLUSIVE: UK full fibre availability increases to 79%

Timelines UK broadband rollouts

The fibre to the premises rollouts continue and the combination of commercial and Project Gigabit rollouts has seen the full fibre footprint go from 78% of UK premises to 79.01% in 35 days.

Timeline from 2010 to 2025 for superfast, Gigabit and full fibre broadband builds across the UK

While we are finding ourselves spending more time mapping footprints from different providers that are bringing the second or third FTTP network to an area, there is fortunately still enough building going on in locations without full fibre to keep the graphs rising. Even with the slow downs of late we are expecting 85% FTTP coverage around March 2026 and 95% potentially in March 2027.

The list of shame, which is the ten local authority areas with the least amount of FTTP (to see the full list of councils, head over to our council list), has been updated to:

  • Na h-Eileanan an Iar 11.57%, an increase of 0.72 since 20th June 2025
  • Harlow District 15.16%, an increase of 0.97 since 20th June 2025
  • Shetland Islands 19.84%, an increase of 0.89 since 20th June 2025
  • Argyll and Bute 25.40%, an increase of 0.30 since 20th June 2025
  • Orkney Islands 25.4%, an increase of 1.02 since 20th June 2025
  • Perth and Kinross 32.46%, an increase of 1.66 since 20th June 2025
  • Winchester District 34.41%, an increase of 0.36 since 20th June 2025
  • West Dunbartonshire 39.11%, an increase of 4.61 since 20th June 2025
  • Oxford District 41.81%, an increase of 4.21 since 20th June 2025
  • South Tyneside District 42.81%, an increase of 3.18 since 20th June 2025

It is nice to see that all the ten least covered council areas of the UK actually saw some full fibre build activity in the last few weeks.
