Three apologies for network issue affecting Voice services

Mobile network Three has apologised to users today after issues affecting voice service have been occurring this morning. The mobile network, now part of the joint group VodafoneThree, still operates as a separate network. Downdetector, a website that crowdsources information about problems on websites or other services has shown a large spike in people experiencing issues since before 8am this morning.

Data services are reported to be working normally.

Network Update

We are aware of an issue affecting voice services and are working hard to fix it. Data services are working normally. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.”

For anyone trying to make calls, they may want to consider using alternative services like WhatsApp or FaceTime, which use the data network to make voice calls rather than using the standard mobile-based voice network.

Problems are still being seen across the Three network affecting calls, and now also SMS text messages.

Network Update
We are continuing to work on an issue affecting voice services which started earlier today. A small number of text messages are also being affected by the issue. Data services are working normally, so calls can be placed via third-party messaging apps. We know how frustrating this is for our customers and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

  1. Absolutely shocking! This happens too regularly for my liking. I’m a type 1 diabetic, not good if I need to call family in an emergency! I will be changing my phone provider with immediate effect. Never any compensation afforded either!

  2. 3 are quick enough to demand payment up front, tie you into a long term contract and increase that contract price each year, (WHY when no other industry does), but not let me out of a contract on which they fail to deliver. I’ve been a customer for over 20 years. More fool me for not changing.

  4. Do i get compensation for my phone not working can’t phone out and no incoming calls

    • You may be able to get something as a ‘gesture of goodwill’ if you’re a customer of significant value (high spend, loyal, etc.). If you’re on the cheapest price plan or prepay, maybe less likely. You should contact them to discuss it though as it won’t be automatic.

      • That’s a joke, 3 ripped me off for a grand!!! Charging me for a free sim!! So don’t count on it! Only stayed as now I don’t need to come into the store and need my number

      • I tried contacting IDmobile (who use 3’s system). I was 5 whole days without a signal. I’m handicapped and rely on my phone on the days when I can’t get out of the house for banking and shopping etc. I gave up trying to get their complaints department after half an hour at full rates on another SIM without reply. I was then one and three quarter hours on their online “chat” line during which I was offered a fiver for my trouble (I haven’t got it yet – if ever) and they flatly refused to consider letting me out of my contract and are to fine me some £35 for getting out of my remaining 3+ months contract immediately. They then offered to get my PAC code for me, but couldn’t because they could send me a code to verify. After wasting time sending identity photos and goodness knows what I was told I could do it instantly on the app – which wouldn’t work as it was down at that time. I’ve never, ever seen such stunning incompetence. Maybe I should have tried “3” direct – but the contract was with IDmobile. Avoid IDmobile and Three at all cost.

  5. Wondering why my kitchen fitter hadn’t turned up this morning with no contact,then I couldn’t contact him ,thanks three for my wasted time

  6. Business support just fobbed me off – I was not even aware of the outage until then – I was due a phone call today to secure a large contract. I have 4 sims they are all dead. I won’t be hanging about either

  7. This is a disgrace as I have no land line now and live alone . It’s been like this all day, when will it be fixed

  8. I am disable and I miss important calls from the hospital. Give us an idea when will possible to be back to normal.

  10. I’m currently on the maximum allowance unlimited everything I pay monthly for what? I needed my network more than ever today as I’m currently homeless this is discusting I’m gonna change tariff if I don’t get some sort of compensation from this. This is not on!

  11. I have been with Smarty via network 3 for less than a year and this is the second time this has happened. I will definitely be changing networks too.

  12. And once again network is down. Poor signal, no data, can barely make calls
