Founder and CEO of alternative network operator (altnet) CityFibre, Greg Mesch is stepping down from leading the business, however will continue on its broadband as Vice Chairman. CityFibre is one of the original alt-nets which has adopted a wholesale model competing with Openreach, working with many retail providers consumers can buy services from. The company has raised over £8bn in funding, reached 4.5 million premises and has over 700,000 end users on its network. It has been a key recipient of Project Gigabit contracts. Simon Holden, currently COO and a board member who has been at CityFibre for six years will be taking over as CEO effective immediately.
