A busy week in BDUK land, as now the projects for West Sussex and
Derbyshire have both
moved into procurement where they will entertain plans from both BT and
Fujitsu.
Estimates on timeline for the two projects suggest awarding of the contract
in the summer, so we would not expect the first connections until Spring
2014.
West Sussex CC have shown a remarkable lack of vigour with thier project. Why they should be well over a year behind other councils is completely unaceptable. In the meantime we are languishing with broadband speed well below 2 Meg here in West Chiltington.
I don’t know why Fujitsu bothers, BT will get it. do these councils think we are thick, we know they will choose Bt and the only reason another company is in the talks is so it looks good.
@zyborg47 – you’re more accurate than you can possibly imagine
@chilting – Unfortunately that’s WSCC in a nutshell. If something can take a week, some senior manager somewhere can justify his position by making a 12 week process.
The counties have to wait their turn to go through procurement, its a long and slow process but thats the requirement, even though the outcome is pretty much predetermined.
