Residents and businesses in Earith, Bluntisham & Colne which is between
Huntingdon and Ely can look forward to a fibre rich 2013. The company Fibrewave
applied for Code Powers from Ofcom to allow them to carry out street
works in relation to this roll-out, and after the consultation period this has
been granted.
Fibrewave is looking to deploy a full fibre to the premises solution in the area, and while
pricing is not expected for a few weeks, their website indicates that the
products will be symmetric ranging in speed from 25 Mbps to 100 Mbps, and the
fibre will support a telephone service, allowing people to disconnect from the
existing copper local loop if they so wish.
