Local Loop Unbundling

Oftel today released more information regarding Local Loop Unbundling and condition 83 including
timescales of when the services should be available to service providers. I quote two relevent paragraphs:

“5.17 The Director currently considers it reasonable that BT should be able to provide standard co-location in a building which has not previously housed co-locating Operators within four months of
receipt of an order (including survey and building works).”

“11.1 …. The Director expects that BT should be in a position to start offering Access Network Facilities from 1 September 2000.”

This states that service providers could be up and running by 1st January 2001.
