FT.com has written an article about the government's plans to downsize their plans to bring everyone in Britain into the 21st century. Telcos have re-affirmed their concerns over the unbundling delays
Patricia Hewitt, the e-commerce minister, on Tuesday said the government chose not to spend £1bn to upgrade all the UK's telephone exchanges because it could be "a waste of taxpayer's money".
Government officials had considered spending the £1bn to open up the BT exchanges for Digital Subscriber Line - DSL - equipment.
