EE

Summary

EE Broadband is one of the biggest names in the UK market and now sits under the same brand as BT, following their merger. It offers a wide range of fibre broadband packages, from standard fibre through to full fibre with speeds up to 900 Mbps. The service is available to most homes in the country, and its reach continues to expand as Openreach upgrades more of the network. One of EE broadband’s biggest draws is its reliability. The service runs on the same infrastructure as BT, so speeds are usually consistent and dropouts are rare. Customers can also benefit from EE’s mobile expertise, with discounts and data boosts available for those who already use their mobile network.

Additional Comments

The broadband packages come with the Smart Hub wireless router, which is well rated for its WiFi range and stability. For households with multiple users or anyone working from home, the higher-end full-fibre options provide enough capacity for streaming, video calls, and gaming without lag. EE also offers a broadband app that allows customers to manage connections, check speed, and control devices, which adds a layer of convenience for families wanting to keep an eye on usage.

In terms of EE customer experience, feedback is mixed. Many people find EE Broadband reliable and easy to set up, and praise the performance once it’s running. But there are recurring complaints about customer service, particularly when something goes wrong. Long waiting times on the phone and difficulty resolving technical faults are common themes among dissatisfied customers. The company’s Trustpilot rating reflects this divide: some reviewers highlight smooth installations and fast speeds, while others express frustration with billing errors or slow responses when reporting issues.

Pricing is another factor to consider. EE is not the cheapest broadband provider on the market, and in many areas, smaller full-fibre networks now offer similar speeds for less. On the other hand, EE broadband packages tend to be stable and transparent, with few hidden costs, and they’re often bundled with mobile deals for better overall value. The contracts are typically 24 months, and prices may increase during that period, so it’s worth checking the small print before signing up. Overall, EE Broadband is a solid choice for anyone looking for a dependable connection from a trusted brand. It performs well in terms of speed and coverage, and the added benefits for EE mobile users make it appealing for those already in the network. Where it falls short is in the personal touch — customer support can be hit and miss, and the pricing isn’t always the most competitive. For most households, though, EE broadband delivers what it promises: fast, stable internet with the backing of one of the UK’s largest telecoms providers.

Pretty good but could be less expensive.

Download speed used to be excellent 30Meg, now sometimes they are rubbish <5Meg . Very variable. It does stay connected well.

Supposedly Superfast fibre but no better than basic copper-wired previous supply. Recently told of price rise plan, claiming that prices have not risen for years - plainly untrue as our own payments have risen considerably. Customer service was good but is now poor. Customer service stall promise things but fail to deliver. Cannot contact by email or chat and have to phone for assistance - often takes a while and then they don't do what they say they will. Unhappy.

Having reluctantly switched from SEE (resold Vodafone) broadband, I am now entirely pleased with the choice of EE, who were already my mobile service provider. The service is fast (an average of 64.7Mbps in an FTTP apartment complex with internal copper connections), and very reliable. The supplied Smart Hub router is the best bundled router I have tried - I have not had to manually restart since it was installed, updates are regularly and seamlessly applied, and the wi-fi coverage is more than adequate for our two-bedroom apartment. Customer service over the signup period was excellent; I have not had to contact CS since.

Speed is good, reliability is good but it is expensive for existing customers with discounts and reasonable pricing only going to new customers. No rewards for loyalty.

Despite many offers and discounts for new customers or for re-subscribing for long fixed terms rates for loyal customers stay at historically high levels. I would switch suppliers but for the fact full cable to home is due in my location soon and I don't want to be tied in to a legacy provider. Current speed on G.Fast is 140mbs but for less money and shorter contract period I will be able to get 900mbs when the fibre to home service is available

Easy sign-on process - I was already an EE mobile customer - prompt repayment of switching penalty from my old provider, and informative updates at every stage of the process made for a good start. These early impressions were borne out in practice, I'm glad to say: speeds have seen consistently good at around 65 Mbps download, 18 Mbps upload, there have been no reliability problems, and the neat supplied router is a dream - very stable, excellent coverage, and a tidy and usable hub manager interface. All told, I am very pleased with this package at what is a very reasonable price for the quality of service.

Disappointed that A[pple Watch has weak Wi-Fi and will not open MacBook
AXL74 20 May 2022 (reviewed 4 years ago)
My EE Broadband service is not fast, not stable and is generally very poor. I don't feel they are doing enough to actually supply a reliable service to our rural areas, but we still have to pay the same as others with better services.

Just coming to the end of my current contract and spotted that the new customer deals were much better. Called in and was swapped to the higher speed and cheaper price immediately. Great service and very helpful telephone agent (Asa - apologies if mis-spelled) who sorted everything out and double-checked it was as I wanted before hanging up. Great service and I'll be happy to stay for another 18 months! As a bonus, I re-negotiated my family mobile phone contracts and saved money on those too. Call and ask - it worked for me!
