EE

Summary

EE Broadband is one of the biggest names in the UK market and now sits under the same brand as BT, following their merger. It offers a wide range of fibre broadband packages, from standard fibre through to full fibre with speeds up to 900 Mbps. The service is available to most homes in the country, and its reach continues to expand as Openreach upgrades more of the network. One of EE broadband’s biggest draws is its reliability. The service runs on the same infrastructure as BT, so speeds are usually consistent and dropouts are rare. Customers can also benefit from EE’s mobile expertise, with discounts and data boosts available for those who already use their mobile network.

Additional Comments

The broadband packages come with the Smart Hub wireless router, which is well rated for its WiFi range and stability. For households with multiple users or anyone working from home, the higher-end full-fibre options provide enough capacity for streaming, video calls, and gaming without lag. EE also offers a broadband app that allows customers to manage connections, check speed, and control devices, which adds a layer of convenience for families wanting to keep an eye on usage.

In terms of EE customer experience, feedback is mixed. Many people find EE Broadband reliable and easy to set up, and praise the performance once it’s running. But there are recurring complaints about customer service, particularly when something goes wrong. Long waiting times on the phone and difficulty resolving technical faults are common themes among dissatisfied customers. The company’s Trustpilot rating reflects this divide: some reviewers highlight smooth installations and fast speeds, while others express frustration with billing errors or slow responses when reporting issues.

Pricing is another factor to consider. EE is not the cheapest broadband provider on the market, and in many areas, smaller full-fibre networks now offer similar speeds for less. On the other hand, EE broadband packages tend to be stable and transparent, with few hidden costs, and they’re often bundled with mobile deals for better overall value. The contracts are typically 24 months, and prices may increase during that period, so it’s worth checking the small print before signing up. Overall, EE Broadband is a solid choice for anyone looking for a dependable connection from a trusted brand. It performs well in terms of speed and coverage, and the added benefits for EE mobile users make it appealing for those already in the network. Where it falls short is in the personal touch — customer support can be hit and miss, and the pricing isn’t always the most competitive. For most households, though, EE broadband delivers what it promises: fast, stable internet with the backing of one of the UK’s largest telecoms providers.

For what is a communications company EE don't seem to be able to listen too or act on simple instructions. I've spent more time talking to their "guides" than I ever spent interacting with BT. I know they are the same but I truly regret having made the switch.

Have been asking for FULL FIBER, as fibre pass my house to fed further down street, next postcode, why can't I be cut into that fibre

It's generally good, although my WiFi signal in the hall is still poorish, which is disappointing considering we are on FTTP with the most expensive package and have four discs, one more than recommended.

I got bumped from BT to EE when my contract ran out. Whereas BT used to try and claim that Open Reach was a different company(?) and not their problem, this is now reinforced with EE. Accountability for problems becomes even more blurred. But they are still all part of the same core company aren't they. My full fibre broadband is more glitchy. The quality of customer service is variable depending on who you get to speak to. The account website is DREADFUL! When you first log on you get a load of product adverts in your face, and when you navigate past these the rest of it is difficult and not as intuitive as the BT portal. If you want to do some Email account maintenance you still have to go to the BT portal account. BT was not good, but the user experience was an awful lot better than EE is.

After 20 or so years of being on BT Broadband (dial up, adsl+, FTTC), the migration to EE in March went smoothly. Same reliable service/speed etc as before, and continued excellent service on the TV side as well

EE has for years given us solid reliability for 9 years, that is up to just recently where a fault in the "Outreach" local system put us off line for about a week. Resolved, when predicted, but nevertheless it was quite a delay till it could be addressed.

getting worse

The performance does vary a bit but is reasonably good. My big problem is cost which I feel to be excessive. Basically the local exchange is a non LLU exchange which meams BT competitors are not allowed access, no competion as only BT, EE and PlusNet are available. as these are all the same company they can charge what they like. And do so.
