Additional Comments

What Plusnet broadband does well is value for money and simplicity. Many users highlight that the setup is straightforward, the pricing at the start is competitive, and the support lines are based in the UK. Reviews usually point to a good value service and comments about fair pricing and staff who are easy to contact and happy to help when things go well.
With that said, there are some recurring complaints. Reliability scores for Plusnet broadband are lower than some of its competitors. Some reviewers note that while customer service is not bad, the reliability can be a bit weaker. Looking through customer comments online you will find examples of slow average speeds, connection dropouts and occasionally, unhelpful support when things do go wrong.

Another factor to check is what happens after your contract ends. Some users report price rises or less favourable renewal deals. If you are signing up, it is worth checking the terms for renewal and any speed guarantees.

Much of Plusnet’s fibre broadband uses the same networks as other major providers via BT and Openreach. That means the physical network is solid, but your actual experience may depend a lot on your local cabinet, wiring and router.

If you are considering Plusnet broadband you should ask yourself a few questions. Is your property eligible for the speed you need? Are you comfortable with the contract term and the likelihood of a price increase after the first term? Do you have a suitable Wi Fi setup in your home so that you get the speeds you pay for, not just what the line can support? When it works well, Plusnet broadband can be a good choice for everyday users, streaming, browsing, online work and casual gaming. It ticks the reliable box for many. But if you live in a large home, do a lot of heavy uploads or downloads or need ultra high performance with complete peace of mind, you may want to check what extras are needed such as a better router or mesh network, or compare other providers with higher reliability ratings.

I've been with Plusnet for many, many years and couldn't ask for a better more reliable provider

At an all-time low now with Plusnet and BT generally. I've waited two years for full fibre and despite being surrounded by areas with it they are still delaying rolling it out here. I'm off to YouFibre!

Just to say I renewed last month. Was a bit miffed they wanted to double my charge. Looked around and they could match the cheapest but with no landline. I have a landline. They wanted £1 a month so I did it. 18months contract but they have STILL got the clause to increase prices next April by RPI plus 4.9% even though BT are stopping doing it! They are a BT company. OfCom are outlawing it, they could should play cricket.

I have been with Plusnet since they bought out Metronet and have never had an insermontable proplem.

Just renewed. Would not match the cheapest broadband offering and wanted me to ditch my landline. I said No! Eventually ended up paying just £1 a month more than cheapest. Figured less hassle staying out and I do know them. Still angry that they e got the RPI + 3.9% increase next April. Since some of BT companies are complying with OfCom. Wish OfCom would make it so ASAP

I've been a regular Plusnet customer for over 10 years. The staff are always really helpful & my broadband is extremely reliable.

Moved to full fiber in November 2023. A little disappointed initially because I had 3 separate speed faults up to March 2024. Each time Plusnet responded quickly and our Final engineer from Openreach found a bad splice joint. Having repaired the joint system has been faultless for the last month. Plusnet are easy to talk to, quick to respond and very responsive.

Plusnet has gone downhill ever since it was bought up by the BT Group. Not the same Yorkshire service I got on board with all those years ago. Now even the Business products have been stopped forcing customers over to BT (unless they opt out and look beyond the default). I'll be hopping off pastures new, back to a business product when full FTTP finally arrives on my doorstep.
