Additional Comments

What Plusnet broadband does well is value for money and simplicity. Many users highlight that the setup is straightforward, the pricing at the start is competitive, and the support lines are based in the UK. Reviews usually point to a good value service and comments about fair pricing and staff who are easy to contact and happy to help when things go well.
With that said, there are some recurring complaints. Reliability scores for Plusnet broadband are lower than some of its competitors. Some reviewers note that while customer service is not bad, the reliability can be a bit weaker. Looking through customer comments online you will find examples of slow average speeds, connection dropouts and occasionally, unhelpful support when things do go wrong.

Another factor to check is what happens after your contract ends. Some users report price rises or less favourable renewal deals. If you are signing up, it is worth checking the terms for renewal and any speed guarantees.

Much of Plusnet’s fibre broadband uses the same networks as other major providers via BT and Openreach. That means the physical network is solid, but your actual experience may depend a lot on your local cabinet, wiring and router.

If you are considering Plusnet broadband you should ask yourself a few questions. Is your property eligible for the speed you need? Are you comfortable with the contract term and the likelihood of a price increase after the first term? Do you have a suitable Wi Fi setup in your home so that you get the speeds you pay for, not just what the line can support? When it works well, Plusnet broadband can be a good choice for everyday users, streaming, browsing, online work and casual gaming. It ticks the reliable box for many. But if you live in a large home, do a lot of heavy uploads or downloads or need ultra high performance with complete peace of mind, you may want to check what extras are needed such as a better router or mesh network, or compare other providers with higher reliability ratings.

Plusnet has arrange a regular ratchet price increase based on RPI, but with no decrease. they have removed the free McAfee security software, replacing it with a three year deal for Norton. they are still not providing a fibre service in my area. So I am paying a lot more for less.

Good reliability, speed & customer service. Am leaving Plusnet to move to a FTTP connection with another ISP; I Would stay with Plusnet but they do not offer a VOIP connection & I do not want the hassle of managing to seperate providers.

Unfortunately it is difficult to speak to a person any more at Plusnet. When we had a broadband outage in the past month, it had to be reported by text and there was no follow-up to indicate that it had been fixed. Another good company that used to be contactable has gone the way of distancing customers from support staff. Not impressed.

plusnet have been great over the last 7ish years, when I did have a problem, they did everything they could to try to solve the problem, which was an Openreach problem anyway. I get 36Mb/s connection of FTTC and that is what I expect considering how far away I am from the cabinet. plusnet does what I require from a broadband provider, which is a broadband connection at a decent speed.

As with too many other companies, things have changed for the worse with Plusnet. Whereas before I could talk to a charming human being with a lovely Yorkshire accent, I am now directed to sending texts when I have a problem. My internet and landline went down this month and after sending multiple texts which ended up with arranging a visit from an engineer (I guess BT) after TWO DAYS, the internet came back up by itself - but without the knowledge of Plusnet, who I had to contact again to cancel the engineer. I just wish companies would get away from sending people to web site, texts, bots, chat rooms, and any other means of avoiding speaking to people.
