Additional Comments

What Plusnet broadband does well is value for money and simplicity. Many users highlight that the setup is straightforward, the pricing at the start is competitive, and the support lines are based in the UK. Reviews usually point to a good value service and comments about fair pricing and staff who are easy to contact and happy to help when things go well.
With that said, there are some recurring complaints. Reliability scores for Plusnet broadband are lower than some of its competitors. Some reviewers note that while customer service is not bad, the reliability can be a bit weaker. Looking through customer comments online you will find examples of slow average speeds, connection dropouts and occasionally, unhelpful support when things do go wrong.

Another factor to check is what happens after your contract ends. Some users report price rises or less favourable renewal deals. If you are signing up, it is worth checking the terms for renewal and any speed guarantees.

Much of Plusnet’s fibre broadband uses the same networks as other major providers via BT and Openreach. That means the physical network is solid, but your actual experience may depend a lot on your local cabinet, wiring and router.

If you are considering Plusnet broadband you should ask yourself a few questions. Is your property eligible for the speed you need? Are you comfortable with the contract term and the likelihood of a price increase after the first term? Do you have a suitable Wi Fi setup in your home so that you get the speeds you pay for, not just what the line can support? When it works well, Plusnet broadband can be a good choice for everyday users, streaming, browsing, online work and casual gaming. It ticks the reliable box for many. But if you live in a large home, do a lot of heavy uploads or downloads or need ultra high performance with complete peace of mind, you may want to check what extras are needed such as a better router or mesh network, or compare other providers with higher reliability ratings.

Bill has just gone up 3 quid mid contract. That's a nearly 10% rise. Why should I commit to a 2 year contract when Plusnet can just up the bill halfway through?

I am satisfied with the connection which is FTTC but hopefully will be FTTP before very long. Ofcourse we are always last to get anything up here in the N E of Scotland.

Last April I had an intermittent loss of broadband. The phone line had been crackling for a while and now it became unusable. I contacted PlusNet and it was fixed. However the problem recurred in October, and fixed again, then in November. They then traced the problem to a cable fault under a pavement. The engineer managed to find a spare line and that has fixed the issue (hopefully for good). I subsequently got a refund from Plusnet for a poor service, which was unlooked for. This was a pleasant surprise.

Always been great, still great.

The only problem I have had is the total loss of my landline as Plusnet do not offer them at all.

Their systems are getting old and the infrastructure needs updating, which I am sure BT is holding back, on purpose to RIP off Plusnet customers while earning plenty of revenue out of their subsidiary that gives lower quality. British Telecom is delaying upgrades, it seems on purpose to fleece as much out of PN with poor and outdated equipment.

We in the north east of scotland have been waiting for a better service via bt who own the lines. But this may be about to change.

Getting too expensive. I will be leaving when my contract expires.
