Additional Comments

What Plusnet broadband does well is value for money and simplicity. Many users highlight that the setup is straightforward, the pricing at the start is competitive, and the support lines are based in the UK. Reviews usually point to a good value service and comments about fair pricing and staff who are easy to contact and happy to help when things go well.
With that said, there are some recurring complaints. Reliability scores for Plusnet broadband are lower than some of its competitors. Some reviewers note that while customer service is not bad, the reliability can be a bit weaker. Looking through customer comments online you will find examples of slow average speeds, connection dropouts and occasionally, unhelpful support when things do go wrong.

Another factor to check is what happens after your contract ends. Some users report price rises or less favourable renewal deals. If you are signing up, it is worth checking the terms for renewal and any speed guarantees.

Much of Plusnet’s fibre broadband uses the same networks as other major providers via BT and Openreach. That means the physical network is solid, but your actual experience may depend a lot on your local cabinet, wiring and router.

If you are considering Plusnet broadband you should ask yourself a few questions. Is your property eligible for the speed you need? Are you comfortable with the contract term and the likelihood of a price increase after the first term? Do you have a suitable Wi Fi setup in your home so that you get the speeds you pay for, not just what the line can support? When it works well, Plusnet broadband can be a good choice for everyday users, streaming, browsing, online work and casual gaming. It ticks the reliable box for many. But if you live in a large home, do a lot of heavy uploads or downloads or need ultra high performance with complete peace of mind, you may want to check what extras are needed such as a better router or mesh network, or compare other providers with higher reliability ratings.

Not full marks this month - due to the connection dropping out on a regular daily basis.

Drop outs happen too often. Hopefully the new router will help.

Connection reliability great - as is the data speed. However, continuous increase in price above inflation is not so good.

Eleven years with Plusnet without complaint, great reliability, speed and value for what I get. Service down once or twice during this time, only briefly and due to server not PN eg Cloudflare down early this week. Renewals usually cause overcharge due to PN's weird accounting system but staff soon sort it out, the're always friendly and helpful. PN email clunky and clumsy, did not pursue it after seeing convoluted address I think it was something like [email protected] Numerous complaints about it on helpful users' forum but hey, you get what you pay for! £pm gets me great service from independent provider and I can switch provider anytime without affecting email service.
