While the Openreach FTTP roll-out may have been scaled back from the original 10% aim of 2009, the operator is still the largest FTTP operator in the UK.

While the retail providers are forever changing their offers at the wholesale level there is often fewer changes and Openreach is considering special offers in a limited number of areas to drive take-up.

The trials to bring self-install options to the FTTC market place are progressing and it appears providers are starting to trial this with real end-users now.

Quietly but slower more information on the progress of superfast fibre services is emerging. The Openreach Where and When website, while not perfect does at least give indications of when an exchange area is likely to offer a fibre service or if under consideration.
