While the Autumn Statement only makes reference to fibre when its says the web version is 'printed on paper containing 40% recycled fibre content minimum' there is something that CEO's and investors may like.

It is beginning to look a lot like the UK will hit the milestone of six out of ten premises being able to access a full-fibre service by 31st December 2023.

Full-fibre is meant to be several times more reliable than older copper or part copper services, but it is not immune to failures during a power cut.

London based fibre network G.Network has undertaken research into the impact of broadband speeds on business productivity. A poll of over 500 decision makers in London-basec companies highlighted that a significant majority (71%) of businesses believe slow and unreliable broadband is having a negative impact on their business.

The full-fibre roll-outs continue at pace. In the last 12 months FTTP coverage has risen from 42.81% to 58.17% and is on track to reach 85% in September 2025.

The clocks have gone back but the amount of full-fibre being found has jumped ahead as we have seen the UK go from 57% coverage to 58% coverage in just 3 weeks.

With well over 600 properties in Pluckley now able to get full fibre from retailers who use the Openreach network the village which is the most haunted village according to the Guiness World Records book resident should not suffer any spooky broadband issues anymore.

While there has been a wave of full-fibre builders saying they have slowed down their builds we are still seeing the overall figures increasing. Could this be down to some providers who are willing to pay the civils contractors the increased prices that inflation has brought about?
