More mobile coverage for an area that has little to no coverage before, Skye has a new EE mast and this brings coverage of the island to 98% of the population and two thirds of the land mass.

The mast was delivered by helicopter and is largely masked from view by trees in the Ghlinne Bhig Forest. The enhanced 4G coverage means better service but more importantly wider coverage across the landmass so that anyone whether it be business or pleasure is more much likely to be able to get in touch with emergency services – or even better have access to the information that will avoid them getting into a situation that needs emergency services in the first place.
Safety is paramount, especially in the rural areas of Skye. This new mast ensures people can make a call in an emergency. Whether it’s someone with a flat tyre in a remote area or a climber needing urgent help, being able to make that crucial call can be lifesaving.

The mast that is located west of Peiness and Uigshader is being used extensively and is one of the busiest EE sites in the area and is part of a wider roll-out by EE to improve coverage for Scottish communities.
