Openreach testing new migration approach for vulnerable end-users

With all the changes to the voice network underway and those reliant on their phone or broadband for safety reasons it is good to see Openreach starting a trial that may see better outcomes for those reliant on copper or broadband connections.

Starting in late December a small trial of a few hundred migrations will be available to communication providers in situations where there is a need to ensure that existing alarm and home care services are working after a migration completes.

This seems to follow on from the news a week ago about the Government getting agreements from networks to be better at ensuring people with alarm pendants and other critical devices have these services tested after a change to their phone/broadband.

The aim is to test how effective new approaches are in allowing engineers to test services prior to and after a migration has happened.

  1. This is about 10 years late.
I understood that copper was scheduled to be phased out during 2023/2025 before BT changed their minds in the middle this period.

THIS SHOULD HAVE DONE BEFORE THEN. You could note make it up
