Skyline Networks applies for Code Powers

Another application for Code Powers and this time it is SkyLine Networks and Consultancy Ltd who have various fixed wireless points of presence (PoP) in Suffolk, Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Norfolk. Services are generally available within 8km if you have line of sight of the PoP and their case studies suggests the focus is business broadband.

The Ofcom consultation is open until 14th August 2024, for those that have any input to support the case for Code Powers or feel there are reasons to deny it.

The applicant looks to be seeking to use code powers to make further roll-out of its wireless network easier and may be branching out into fibre to the premises. They have said where possible they will make use of the Openreach PIA products to use existing ducts and poles where neccessary. There is nothing indicating a roll-out of consumer FTTP, so we guess this is more about running fibre to business parks or lone business properties that cannot be reached by fixed wireless. Having Code Powers reduces a lot of the friction involved even when doing this on a small scale and this means a faster roll-out and fingers crossed cheaper prices.
