The Brits weren’t the only awards taking place last night. The Internet Services Providers’ Association UK (ISPA)
announced the winners of its annual Internet industry awards. Many of the well known names featured on ADSLguide were nominated and several were crowned winners at the event in Central London.
The event was overshadowed by a small protest by a group of NTL users campaigning against
the 1GB daily traffic limit recently imposed on its cable service.

Some of the key awards were:

Best Business Broadband Provider – Eclipse Internet
Best Consumer Broadband Provider – Pipex
Best Broadband Supplier – West Dorset Internet
Best Hardware – Electronic Frontier

West Dorset Internet was especially praised for “providing an alternative to broadband provision and bypassing local loop unbundling” to get broadband into rural areas using wireless masts. This
also earned them the “Best Small or Niche Market ISP” award. Other ISPs to win awards include Claranet, One.Tel and Freeserve [seb]
