Additional Comments

What Plusnet broadband does well is value for money and simplicity. Many users highlight that the setup is straightforward, the pricing at the start is competitive, and the support lines are based in the UK. Reviews usually point to a good value service and comments about fair pricing and staff who are easy to contact and happy to help when things go well.
With that said, there are some recurring complaints. Reliability scores for Plusnet broadband are lower than some of its competitors. Some reviewers note that while customer service is not bad, the reliability can be a bit weaker. Looking through customer comments online you will find examples of slow average speeds, connection dropouts and occasionally, unhelpful support when things do go wrong.

Another factor to check is what happens after your contract ends. Some users report price rises or less favourable renewal deals. If you are signing up, it is worth checking the terms for renewal and any speed guarantees.

Much of Plusnet’s fibre broadband uses the same networks as other major providers via BT and Openreach. That means the physical network is solid, but your actual experience may depend a lot on your local cabinet, wiring and router.

If you are considering Plusnet broadband you should ask yourself a few questions. Is your property eligible for the speed you need? Are you comfortable with the contract term and the likelihood of a price increase after the first term? Do you have a suitable Wi Fi setup in your home so that you get the speeds you pay for, not just what the line can support? When it works well, Plusnet broadband can be a good choice for everyday users, streaming, browsing, online work and casual gaming. It ticks the reliable box for many. But if you live in a large home, do a lot of heavy uploads or downloads or need ultra high performance with complete peace of mind, you may want to check what extras are needed such as a better router or mesh network, or compare other providers with higher reliability ratings.

It seems ok , just the quality of the router is suspect

Last month I mentioned slow response times. This month was much better.

Not nearly as good as they used to be before BT bought a share in this UK-based ISP. Customer Service and Product Focus has dropped off over the years. For a business ISP, they offer little in the way of innovation and thought of what their high-end business users might actually want. This ISP needs to take a closer look at services being provided by alternative ISP's that have grown up alongside them but stayed away from the BT golden handshake which was only offered to grow BT's customer database. If you have to have a BT ISP then Plus.net is the better option with UK call centers that you don't have to spend three weeks getting past to resolve a simple issue.

I've been with PN for seven years and never had a moment's downtime. Speeds began with 5 or 6MB over ADSL at first, then doubled with ADSL2, for past couple of years I've had a rock steady 35MB or more down, 9MB up over FTTC. I have used PN routers from the start, though the BT HH6 available on eBay etc offers 20% better wifi and the community forum has an excellent guide to setting it up. We pay well under £30pm for BB and unlimited landline calls. I think it's great value for money. However, there is a downside, and that's the woeful PN accounts system. Initial signup and every renewal has been screwed up in some way, requiring a long wait to talk to the customer reps. These I have always found pleasant and helpful despite their extra workload due to the pandemic; I spoke to one who has been working from his one-bedroom flat since Covid began. If PN could only fix their accounts system they would be unbeatable, and this is the only reason for giving their CS four stars rather than five.

I was having trouble with a previous ISP who only contacted me, and only via email, once I decide to leave. With plusnet, I was able to get people on the phone on multiple occasions. They helped me troubleshoot my connectivity problems within the first couple days of being connected. Let's be clear, the fiber optic connection is exactly the same, but have real customer support makes all of the difference.

I find the service reliable but slow. It's suposed to be up to 36 mps but usually struggles to get over 20.

Service good in daytime but slows to a standstill in the evenings when you actually want to use it. Will be moving to another supplier as soon as possible!

Very raely drops out. Very good when up to speed but too much time at 18 mips when should be 36.

Plusnet support is normally good, Covid has understandably slowed down the telephone answering ability. The moment Openreach becomes involved the service level drastically deteriorates, which unfairly reflects on Plusnet.
