Additional Comments

What Plusnet broadband does well is value for money and simplicity. Many users highlight that the setup is straightforward, the pricing at the start is competitive, and the support lines are based in the UK. Reviews usually point to a good value service and comments about fair pricing and staff who are easy to contact and happy to help when things go well.
With that said, there are some recurring complaints. Reliability scores for Plusnet broadband are lower than some of its competitors. Some reviewers note that while customer service is not bad, the reliability can be a bit weaker. Looking through customer comments online you will find examples of slow average speeds, connection dropouts and occasionally, unhelpful support when things do go wrong.

Another factor to check is what happens after your contract ends. Some users report price rises or less favourable renewal deals. If you are signing up, it is worth checking the terms for renewal and any speed guarantees.

Much of Plusnet’s fibre broadband uses the same networks as other major providers via BT and Openreach. That means the physical network is solid, but your actual experience may depend a lot on your local cabinet, wiring and router.

If you are considering Plusnet broadband you should ask yourself a few questions. Is your property eligible for the speed you need? Are you comfortable with the contract term and the likelihood of a price increase after the first term? Do you have a suitable Wi Fi setup in your home so that you get the speeds you pay for, not just what the line can support? When it works well, Plusnet broadband can be a good choice for everyday users, streaming, browsing, online work and casual gaming. It ticks the reliable box for many. But if you live in a large home, do a lot of heavy uploads or downloads or need ultra high performance with complete peace of mind, you may want to check what extras are needed such as a better router or mesh network, or compare other providers with higher reliability ratings.

Tip Top.

I'd leave Plus.net but they are the closest thing BT has to a business broadband service and I still believe there's no point adding complexity by bringing in a third-party ISP to provide my broadband on Openreach copper, (Broadband is NOT the same as changing your gas/water/electric provider). Billing with Plus.net has always been a problem, I still can't bring all my business lines into one bill and one direct debit.

Plusnet's broadband and phone landline has been 100% reliable for the past 3 years, but download speed is around 2.5Mb/s most of the time, so borderline for TV streaming. No option yet where I live (Leeds suburb) for faster service, other than Virgin, who have reliability issues locally.

Started off ok for speed but as time goes on to speed is getting slower just like sky did. They lock you in to an 18 month contrive you good speed then slow it down to just above the limit they set before they have to start paying you compensation and you can't complain either.

Compared to other ISP's, Plusnet upload and download speed is super slow.

Generally very good but is prone to slow speed at times in the day. Sometimes as slow as single figure downloads.

Only major problem i have is they have no plans so far to bring ultra fast fibre from the telegraph pole to my house, all other users ie BT Sky Virgin and talktalk are being connected,
